Meet Ed Dorsett

Ed's passion for photography was inspired by his father, who gave Ed the gift of his first "real" camera; a Canon AE-1, in the late 1970's. Although his cameras and subject matter have changed over the years, his love for the lens has remained the same.

His work has been published by Travel & Leisure Magazine, LEFAIR Magazine, the ISA (International Surfing Association), Planeta Surf Magazine, Ruts Magazine, MEXSUP Tour, KAVU, Carbonerro and Rogue SUP to name a few. He also works closely as a free lance photographer for Planeta Surf Magazine, Ruts Magazine, the MEXSUP Tour, and with SayulitaLife.com where his work can be found throughout their website.

A few professional surfers call Sayulita home, and Ed loves getting those Wicked surf shots when the big sets roll in. Ed is a valuable asset to the surfing community, sponsoring surf competitions and working with local competitors to retain sponsors.

Ed resides in beautiful Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico where he enjoys the simple life and has ample opportunity to pursue his passion for photography.

EVAN MITSUI (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) On: 04/04/14

"Ed was 'on it' shooting from the beach with his 400mm lens. Some friends and I were enjoying a session on a small wave day, oblivious to Ed's shooting. It wasn't until we'd come out of the water that we learned he'd scored some great shots. He dropped a card off with a member of our party hanging out on the beach and we purchased download licences for a couple images once we'd returned home. He was friendly and helpful in an email followup afterwards, too. Posted a few of his shots on my blog. Check them out here: http://bit.ly/1mPJSOH *As a photographer myself, I'm quite grateful of Ed's shots since, in all the years I've been surfing and shooting, there are only a handful of shots of me and my friends in the water together. Don't pass up the opportunity like I did all those years."
